Klassik 2.0, founded by violinist Julian Schad, falls into the second category. Since 2024, a new form of music-making has been taking shape in the historic Marstall on Lake Starnberg—one that deliberately navigates the expectations of classical music: accessible, focused, and faithful to tradition—yet offering a fresh perspective on it.

The musician behind it
Julian Schad is a versatile, authentic musician with heart. After graduating with distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in London, he performed in venues such as the Elbphilharmonie, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall. Influenced by music from an early age, he played the violin, drums, trumpet, and piano—always supported by his close connection to his four siblings. Today, he is a concert violinist, concertmaster, and chamber musician, as well as an initiator of new formats. With “Klassik 2.0 / Club,” he has been bringing classical music to the stage in fresh contexts since 2024.
Concert Announcement
Two evenings, two musical worlds, one festival:
On October 24 and 25, Klassik 2.0 will bring music, friendship, and shared stories to the Marstall am See in Berg.
The focus is on Julian Schad—along with his friends, musical collaborators, and family. The repertoire ranges from Strauss, Korngold, and Puccini to Frank Sinatra and the grand soundscapes of John Williams and Hans Zimmer.
On the first evening, two internationally sought-after artists, Ari Ólafsson and Max-Philipp Klüser, will share the stage with Julian. Afterward, DJ Nas will turn the Marstall into a dance floor.
On the second evening, Frisch returns, with a new look, under the direction of Nils Schad, and, together with Julian as a soloist, takes the audience on a musical journey from the mountains to Hollywood.
A festival that blends classical music and film scores, local roots and the big stage—personal, surprising, and truly Classical 2.0.

Together, they pushed their own limits, encouraged one another, and laughed a lot. And today, their musical journeys have taken them to stages around the world. For one evening, they’re reuniting at the Marstall am See in Berg to share not only their music but also the friendships, stories, and shared memories that have bound them together for many years.

“Freshly Painted” Returns
With fresh energy and a rich sound, the string orchestra “Frisch gestrichen,” conducted by Nils Schad, returns to the Marstall am See in Berg. Together with Julian Schad, the ensemble takes the audience on a musical journey from Berg to Hollywood—from the great works of the Classical era to the soundscapes of John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and many other composers.

Klassik 2.0 combines classical masterpieces with modern arrangements, film music, and pop songs. Each concert is framed by a get-together with drinks and snacks and often ends with an afterparty with a DJ—a format that makes classical music fresh, lively, and accessible.

Yes. Visitors under the age of 27 pay a reduced price. In addition, persons accompanying severely disabled persons with a “B” pass are admitted free of charge.
Admission usually begins one hour before the concert starts (e.g., 6:00 p.m. for a concert starting at 7:00 p.m.). This allows plenty of time for the get-together with snacks and drinks, which is an integral part of Klassik 2.0.
Yes, many Klassik 2.0 concerts include an afterparty with a DJ and drinks. This starts right after the concert (e.g., at 10 p.m.) and creates space for conversation and socializing.
